Francis Firebrace
July 13, 2010 · 1 Comment
On Thursday 8th July we had a visit from two very special guests, Francis Firebrace and Nick Burman.
Francis Firebrace is an Aboriginal Australian from the Yorta Yorta tribe of Victoria. He taught us all about Aboriginal culture and beliefs. He is also an extremely talented artist and worked with some of our children to create outstanding pieces of Aboriginal art.
Nick Burman is a didgeridoo player from Northern England. Not only is Nick and excellent didgeridoo player but he was a fantatsic teacher too, he had Year 4 playing beauitfully in no time.
Check out the voicethread below to see what the children thought.

Enterprise Day
June 30, 2010 · 7 Comments
On Friday 25th June Year 4 held an Enterprise Afternoon. During the afternoon Year 4 sold goods and services to the rest of the school.
The event was very successful in a number of ways:
– The children really enjoyed devloping their stalls, creating posters, price lists and uniforms.
– The rest of the school enjoyed buying our goods and services and learned how to manage their own money.
– Finally, Year 4 made a profit of £286.59. The money we have made will be used to pay for an educational visit and we will also make a donation to the Jaipur Limb Campaign, Mozambique.
Please take a look at our stalls.

Aboriginal Art
May 26, 2010 · 8 Comments
Last week we produced some beautiful Aboriginal art. We began by looking at art by Aboriginal artisits. Then we designed our own pictures using Aboriginal signs and symbols. We used beans and peas to create the dappeled effect.
We hope you like our work.
Look out for the whale, the kookaburra, the platypus, the kangaroo, the snake and the turtle.
